Inspirational Team ‘Day Out’ for Freedom Hair – Monday 13 June 2011
Irving Miskell-Reid, Mary Forbes and the team and Freedom Hair Experience in Dundee are having a team ‘day out’ with a difference.
The Freedom Hair team are visiting Maggie’s Centre in Dundee, with whom they have worked closely with over many years.
"We’ve been raising funds along with Arlene Fenton for Maggies, for many years doing charity shows and events, in particular the ‘Face of Freedom’ which is an annual charity show where we work with young people in the area, along with cancer survivors. The survivors’ strength, determination and sense of humour during such a dark time is overwhelming and humbling. The Freedom team are really looking forward to meeting and working with everyone at Maggies again over the autumn period, incorporating Face of Freedom 2011," Irving said.
As if that’s not motivational enough, the team plan another visit on the same day.
42 years ago the first Vidal Sassoon's autobiography, ‘Sorry I kept you waiting, Madam’ inspired Irving into hairdressing. 42 years on, he continues to inspire Irving. Irving hopes that by taking his team to Vidal Sassoon The Movie at the DCA on Monday 13th June, that his talented young stylists will be equally inspired.
Irving said "Vidal Sassoon is an inspirational hero of hairdressing who told stories with hair. His work appeared to be simple, but many eyes took a long time to adjust to the 'new looks' that he and Mary Quant were creating in the 60s. Chanel and Dior had done so before, however there was a syncronicity between Sassoon, Mary Quant, David Bailey and the Beatles, and how they were branding and expressing themselves differently to a rapidly changing world".
